TikTok Creator Fund in Canada: What's Available in 2026

Canadian creators searching for the TikTok Creator Fund usually find conflicting answers. Some guides say it's live, others say it never arrived. This page answers the program question only: what the Creator Fund was, why Canada never had it, where its replacement stands for Canadian accounts, and which ways of earning on TikTok you can actually use from Canada today.

Is the TikTok Creator Fund Available in Canada?

No. The Creator Fund was never offered in Canada, and it has now closed everywhere. TikTok shut it down on December 16, 2023 and moved eligible creators to its newer program, which started as the Creativity Program beta and was renamed the Creator Rewards Program in 2024.

That replacement has not had an official Canadian launch either. CBC reported in 2024 that Canadian creators could not join Creator Rewards, and TikTok has not since announced Canada as an eligible region. Third-party lists that include Canada aren't consistent, so treat the app itself as the final word (see the eligibility check below). The short version: Canadian creators can still earn on TikTok, just not through a view-based payout fund.

Why the Creator Fund Never Launched in Canada

TikTok announced the Creator Fund in July 2020, starting in the United States with a US$200 million pool that it later said would grow to US$1 billion over three years. It expanded to the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. Canada was never added, and TikTok didn't explain why publicly.

A few factors are commonly pointed to:

  • Market-by-market rollout. TikTok launches payout and commerce features one country at a time, usually starting with its largest ad markets. Canada has repeatedly been left out of first waves, as it still is with TikTok Shop, which hasn't launched here yet.
  • A fixed-pool model that didn't scale. The Fund split a set amount of money across all eligible views, so per-view pay fell as more creators joined. TikTok chose to replace it rather than extend it to new countries.
  • Regulatory uncertainty. In November 2024 the federal government ordered TikTok Technology Canada to wind up its Canadian operations after a national security review. The Federal Court set that order aside in January 2026, and in March 2026 the government announced a deal letting TikTok keep operating in Canada under new security and privacy undertakings. The app stayed available to Canadians throughout.

None of these is an official reason, but together they explain why Canada sat outside the Fund for its entire three-year life.

Creator Rewards Program: The Canadian Path to Watch

Creator Rewards is the program any future Canadian payout would run through, so it's worth knowing the bar before it opens to your account. In the regions where it runs, TikTok asks for:

  • At least 18 years old.
  • At least 10,000 followers.
  • At least 100,000 valid video views in the last 30 days.
  • A personal account in good standing (business accounts aren't accepted).
  • Rewards are paid on original videos longer than one minute, not on duets, stitches or reposted clips.
  • An account based in a region where the program is offered.

The first four are within your control, and they're worth working toward even before Canada is eligible, because brands and agencies use the same follower and view numbers to decide who to work with. Our breakdown of the follower milestones that unlock each way to earn on TikTok walks through them one by one. For what Creator Rewards pays per view where it operates, see our separate guide to TikTok earnings for Canadian creators.

Other Monetization Options in Canada

Without a payout fund, TikTok monetization in Canada comes from features that pay per fan or per partnership rather than per view:

  • LIVE gifts. Viewers buy coins and send virtual gifts during your live streams; gifts convert into Diamonds you can withdraw. Going live needs at least 1,000 followers, and you must be 18 or older to receive gifts. Our guide on going live on TikTok covers the setup.
  • Brand deals. Sponsorships are the biggest earner for most Canadian creators. TikTok One (formerly Creator Marketplace) connects creators with advertisers, and many deals are still arranged directly by email or through agencies.
  • Series. A paywalled collection of videos that followers unlock with a one-time payment. It's offered to eligible accounts only, so check whether it appears in your Creator tools.
  • TikTok Shop. Not available to Canadian sellers yet. Until it is, affiliate links in your bio and selling your own products or services off-platform fill the same role.
  • Cross-platform income. Many creators repost their best TikToks as YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels, where revenue-sharing and bonus programs may be open to Canadian accounts.

Every one of these depends on reach. A brand looks at average views per video, and a LIVE only earns gifts if people show up. If you're building that first audience, our TikTok growth services for Canadian accounts and options to give new videos an initial view boost can sit alongside a consistent posting schedule.

How to Check Eligibility in the App

Program availability changes by region and account, so check your own account directly rather than relying on lists online:

  1. Open TikTok and go to your profile.
  2. Tap the menu (three lines) in the top-right corner, then Creator tools or TikTok Studio, depending on your app version.
  3. Look for Creator Rewards Program and the other monetization entries, such as LIVE rewards or Series.
  4. Tap an entry to see its requirements and your progress. If an option is missing, or says it isn't available in your region, it isn't open to your account yet.

Keep the app updated, because new programs usually appear through an app update first. Make sure your account is set to a personal account, since some monetization features don't appear on business accounts.

FAQ: TikTok Creator Fund in Canada

Does TikTok have a Creator Fund in Canada?

No. The TikTok Creator Fund never launched in Canada, and it no longer exists anywhere: TikTok closed it in December 2023 and moved creators to the Creator Rewards Program (first called the Creativity Program). Canadian accounts were not part of the original Fund at any point.

Why is the TikTok Creator Fund not available in Canada?

TikTok never gave an official reason. The Fund only ever ran in the US and a handful of European markets, and TikTok rolled its payout programs out country by country. Canada was never added before the Fund closed, and TikTok's Canadian operations were also under a federal national security review from 2024 until a March 2026 agreement with Ottawa.

Can Canadians join Creator Rewards with a VPN or a US address?

It isn't a safe route. Creator Rewards checks the region of your account and needs identity, tax and payout details that match an eligible country. Misrepresenting your location breaks TikTok's terms and can lead to withheld earnings or a lost account, so it's better to build on the income options that are open to Canadian accounts.

How do Canadian creators make money on TikTok without the Creator Fund?

Most combine LIVE gifts, brand partnerships (through TikTok One or direct deals), affiliate links and their own products or services. Eligible accounts may also see Series, TikTok's paywalled content feature, in Creator tools. Many Canadian creators also republish their best videos on platforms that share ad revenue in Canada.
